Privacy Policy

This policy explains how OptiRank AI, a Shopify app built by OptimaGeeks (“we”, “us”), handles information when a merchant installs and uses the app.

Summary

  • We only access your store information and product data.
  • We do not access customer, order or payment data.
  • Product text is sent to Google Gemini to generate the content you request.
  • Your data is deleted about 48 hours after you uninstall the app.

Information we collect

When you install and use OptiRank AI, we collect and store:

  • Store information: your shop domain, store name, store description, primary domain, contact email, plan and app settings, as provided by Shopify. With read_legal_policies we read which store policies exist (title, link and length) so audits can check them; we don't store the policy text.
  • Product data: product titles, descriptions, tags, SEO fields, image ALT text, variants (SKU, barcode, price and availability), options, collections, product category and product metafields, read through Shopify's Admin API with the read_products and write_products permissions. Metaobject names referenced by those metafields (such as a color or material) are read with read_metaobjects.
  • Public storefront pages: to check search and AI readiness, we read your store's public robots.txt, sitemap and a small sample of public product pages, the same pages any visitor or search engine can see. We store what we found (for example whether a page has product structured data), not copies of the pages.
  • Generated content: AI-generated drafts (titles, descriptions, meta tags, ALT text, keyword suggestions, product summaries and attributes), and the original values of fields you publish, so you can restore them. Published summaries and attributes are saved as product metafields in the optirank namespace in your store.
  • Usage and credit records: which operations ran, when, their status and the credits they used, plus technical logs needed to operate and secure the service.

We do not request access to, and do not collect, your customers' personal information, orders or payment details. We do not use advertising or analytics trackers on the app or this website.

How we use information

  • To audit your products and storefront and generate the product content you request.
  • To show you drafts for review and publish the changes you approve back to your Shopify store.
  • To track credit usage against your plan and refund credits for failed operations.
  • To provide support, prevent abuse and keep the service secure and reliable.

We do not sell your data, and we do not use your data to train our own AI models.

Service providers (sub-processors)

We share data only with providers that help us run the service, and only as needed:

  • Google (Gemini API): receives product text and related product details to generate SEO content.
  • Hosting and database providers: store and process app data on our behalf.
  • Shopify: provides store and product data, and handles all billing for the app.

These providers process data only to deliver their services to us, under their own API terms and data-usage policies: Gemini API terms. Contact us for the current list of providers we use.

Data retention and deletion

  • Unpublished drafts are kept for your plan's draft window (Free: 30 days; Starter: 90 days; Pro: 365 days; Business: 365 days) and then deleted automatically.
  • When you uninstall OptiRank AI, Shopify sends us a shop data removal request (shop/redact) about 48 hours later. When it arrives we delete your store's data, including drafts, change history and usage records.
  • Changes you have already published to your Shopify store remain in your store after uninstalling; you can edit them in Shopify at any time.

Security

Data is transmitted over encrypted connections, and access to production systems is restricted to people who need it to operate the service.

Your rights

You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your store's data at any time by contacting us. Depending on where you are located, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. We will post the new version on this page and update the “Last updated” date.
